Washington, D.C. – [11/11/2024] – United Voices calls on the U.S. Senate to support Sen. Bernie Sanders’ resolution to block billions of dollars in U.S. weapons sales to Israel as it continues its relentless assault on Palestinian and Lebanese civilians. The resolution, expected to be voted on next week, would halt the transfer of arms that have fueled Israel’s indiscriminate bombing campaign and grave human rights violations.

The U.S. government is legally bound by the Foreign Assistance Act and the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) to ensure that weapons sales do not contribute to human rights violations or obstruct humanitarian aid. Yet, the Biden administration continues to approve military aid to Israel, despite its deliberate starvation of Palestinians in Gaza and its expanding attacks on civilians in Lebanon. By approving these arms sales, the U.S. is in clear violation of its own laws, further entrenching its complicity in war crimes.

United Voices urges all people of conscience to contact their senators and demand they vote YES on Sen. Sanders’ resolution. Every weapon the U.S. sends to Israel is another tool of destruction, fueling genocide and mass displacement. At this pivotal moment, silence is complicity. The Senate must act to stop arming apartheid and uphold America’s commitment to human rights and the rule of law.
