(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/18/2023) – United Voices, a prominent Washington DC-based advocacy and political empowerment organization, today issued a strong condemnation of the recent acts of violence and alleged war crimes perpetrated by Israeli forces in Gaza. This wave of violence includes the tragic bombing of a maternity hospital that killed a 13-year-old girl and the massacre of at least 110 people in the Jabalia refugee camp.

The series of attacks have relentlessly targeted medical facilities, with over 26 Palestinians killed at the entrance of al-Shifa Hospital. The situation has grown increasingly dire, with even unarmed civilians, including two Christians seeking sanctuary in a church, falling victim to the violence—a situation Pope Francis has condemned as a deliberate targeting of “unarmed civilians.”

“In the face of what can only be described as daily war crimes and a clear campaign of genocide and ethnic cleansing by the far-right Israeli government, the silence and inaction of the Biden administration are unconscionable,” stated a spokesperson for United Voices. “We demand a permanent ceasefire to end this indiscriminate slaughter and to pave the way for a just and lasting peace.”

United Voices has also called on the United Nations to investigate claims of Israeli forces bulldozing medical tents with injured Palestinians inside, pointing to a broader pattern of disregard for civilian life. With the death toll in Gaza surpassing 20,000, predominantly women and children, including hundreds of UN workers, journalists, and medical personnel, the need for international intervention and accountability has never been more urgent.
