United Voices, an organization dedicated to amplifying the voices for disenfranchised communities today announced its endorsement of the Ceasefire Now Resolution, introduced by Representatives Cori Bush (MO-01), Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), André Carson (IN-07), Summer Lee (PA-12), Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), and co-sponsored by a coalition of committed lawmakers including Representatives Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Jonathan Jackson (IL-01), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), and Nydia Velázquez (NY-07).

United Voices applauds the efforts of these representatives to address the urgent need for a de-escalation and ceasefire Gaza. The Ceasefire Now Resolution serves as a crucial alternative to a looming bipartisan resolution that, if passed, would essentially endorse Israel’s ongoing bombing campaign in Gaza, leading to the loss of thousands of Palestinian civilian lives.

This resolution, backed by a diverse group of dedicated congressional members, emphasizes the paramount importance of sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. The primary goal is to save innocent lives caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict. United Voices stands firmly in support of the resolution’s call for an immediate deescalation and cease-fire, recognizing the preciousness of all human life and the violation of international humanitarian law when civilians, irrespective of faith or ethnicity, are targeted.

United Voices president Ahmed Bedier states, “The crisis in Gaza demands urgent attention and action. United Voices commends Representatives Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, Andre Carson, and others for their unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of all civilians. We call upon all members of the House of Representatives to unite in support of the Ceasefire Now Resolution, a commonsense approach to ending the violence and fostering a just and lasting peace in the region.”

United Voices urges the Biden administration to heed the resolution’s call for immediate deescalation and a ceasefire and to promptly facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The organization emphasizes the need for the United States to use its diplomatic power to save lives and work towards a sustainable resolution to the ongoing conflict.
