United Voices strongly condemns the Israeli government’s declaration of a genocidal war on the people of Gaza. As an organization dedicated to fostering a future where all individuals can live in equality and freedom, we urgently call on all people of conscience to unite against the imminent genocide of Palestinians.

In line with leading Palestinian rights groups, United Voices strongly emphasizes that the massacres committed by any party against civilians are grave war crimes. We stand unwavering in our belief that there is no justification in international law for the indiscriminate killing of civilians or the holding of civilian hostages.

Tragically, the Israeli and elements within American government, are exploiting the attack of October 7th, to fuel a genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza, openly pledging to “open the gates of hell.” This marks a harrowing continuation of historical injustices, echoing the Nakba of 1948 and 75 years of Israeli occupation and apartheid.

Disturbingly, over 1,500 Palestinians in Gaza have already lost their lives this week, half of which are children, with the Israeli government inflicting complete and total devastation on the densely populated strip. Hospitals, schools, mosques, marketplaces, and apartment buildings have become targets of destruction.

As we write this, the Israeli government has cut off all electricity to Gaza, plunging the densely populated strip into darkness. Hospitals struggle to save lives, communication is severed, and drinking water for two million people is running out. Israel’s openly stated intention to commit mass atrocities and even genocide adds an alarming dimension to the unfolding crisis, with Prime Minister Netanyahu declaring that the Israeli response will “reverberate for generations.”

Equally concerning is the role of the U.S. Government, enabling the Israeli government’s atrocities by sending weapons, deploying warships, and providing blanket support. The spread of racist and incendiary rhetoric by U.S. government officials further fuels the risk of mass atrocities and genocide.

In the face of these dire circumstances, United Voices urgently calls for an immediate end to the violence. We implore the international community to fulfill its duty under the United Nations charter to bring peace and stability to this longstanding conflict. Specifically, we call on the United States to reconsider its one-sided and unconditional support for Israel, a support that enables the perpetuation of occupation and apartheid, clear violations of international law.

Recognizing the root causes of this crisis, including the daily oppression and persecution of millions of Palestinians, is essential. Confronting the blockade of Gaza, the occupation of Palestinian land and property, and the human rights abuses perpetrated by Israeli authorities must be at the forefront of efforts to achieve a meaningful resolution.

United Voices stands in deep solidarity with the Palestinian people during this critical time. We call on all parties and governments worldwide to exert pressure on Israel to cease its violence and war against the Palestinian people. Genuine and lasting peace can only be achieved by recognizing the rights of all parties involved.
